We are thrilled to announce that Les Patterson has been awarded The British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King's Birthday Honours List!

The BEM is a British award for meritorious service, typically recognising a "hands-on" contribution to the local community. It is awarded for sustained charitable or voluntary activity, or for innovative work that has made a significant difference... and Les is very much worthy of this recognition! He has played a pivotal role in setting up and sustaining 78 Derngate - The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House over the past 25 years or more and we are highly delighted for him and very proud of this recognition.

On receipt of this honour, Les said: "I feel honoured to receive this award which recognises the role I played in restoring 78 Derngate and establishing it as a national heritage attraction in the town over the last 25 years. This was made possible by the contributions and efforts of local volunteers, funders, businesses, councils and our Friends organisation. I am very grateful for their support and encouragement which I hope this honour reflects."
