An unusual, striking and historic poster for the Mackintosh enthusiast.
This poster which was originally produced in a very small quantity to promote the exhibition, has now been printed in a limited collector’s edition of just 78.
The design is inspired by works of The Wiener Werkstätte (engl.: Vienna Workshop), established in 1903 by Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann and both associates of Mackintosh. Many of the works produced by Mackintosh during the period he worked on 78 Derngate owe much to his sympathies with this leading European design group. The title lettering is adapted from Mackintosh’s hand lettered inscription for a portfolio of drawings. The checkerwork pattern is a motif much favoured in many designs throughout his career and it features most strikingly in the carpet and glass screen for the stunning Hall Lounge of 78 Derngate.
Signed and numbered on the reverse, the poster is printed in the vivid colours of 78 Derngate on smooth white fine art paper in archival quality inks. It features James Craig Annan’s famous side portrait of Mackintosh from 1893 reproduced in stunning high resolution.
Size: 297 x 420 mm.
Limited edition of 78 signed prints.
