The award-winning architects, John McAslan & Partners of London, designed the renovation of the final part of the Charles
Rennie Mackintosh House & Galleries Project. 82 Derngate,
like 78, has had a long and chequered history. Built in 1806, it
passed through several owners' hands including Northampton High School
for Girls. Acquired by the 78 Derngate Northampton Trust, the
house has been transformed into a stunning combination of Regency
grandeur and ultra-modern efficiency housing new facilities including:

Showcasing quality contemporary gifts, jewellery and crafts from modern
designer makers as well as books, cards and gifts featuring Mackintosh,
his contemporaries and other significant figures from the history of
art. The retail experience at 78 Derngate is easy to access
on the ground floor and open Tuesday - Sunday 10.00 am - 4.30 pm.

Housed in these stunning new galleries feature temporary exhibitions from both regional and local artists and makers.
2008 Gallery Events
May 22nd - July 13th: "Looks Familiar", an exhibition of Mackintosh inspired works by Creative Arts students at Hinwick Hall College.
July 12th - August 31st: Katie Mawson - 'Stranded'. Katie
describes her creative process as 'painting with yarn'. Using a
technique called dry-point felting; Katie creates exquisite figurative
wall hung pieces.
July 19th - August 31st: Tom Osborne Robinson
Paintings and Poster Exhibition. Some original theatre designs by
Tom Osborne Robinson and a selection from the Tom Osborne Robinson
poster collection held by the University of Northampton.
September 6th - October 12th: Open Studios by members of the Northamptonshire Guild of Designer Craftsmen. Gallery and Workshop Events featuring ceramics, stained glass and textiles from Jim Bassett, John Mathieson, Kerstin Goulding, Dianne MacRae and Anthony MacRae.
October 18th - December 21st: Yummy Knits, a selling show featuring contemporary knitwear by makers throughout the UK.
