Sam Wadsworth, an exciting young painter, will be showing a new body of work created for this solo gallery show.

 

Celebrating the beauty of Northampton in its buildings and parks, people and places, Sam has created a new collection of 'Portraits of Northampton'.

A Brush with Botanica

The Northamptonshire Botanical Artists Society presents A Brush with Botanica, an exhibition of original botanical paintings July 24th to August 30th 2010.

The Northamptonshire Botanical Artists Society is mounting this exhibition of their current work in the Bassett-Lowke galleries within the 78 Derngate complex.

Open Studios Northamptonshire: The 78 Showcase

The 78 Showcase will feature the work of seven members of Open Studios Northamptonshire.

This hand-picked selection of some of the finest artists in the county will be free to enter and opens on Saturday 4th September. Chris Prout, Sheila Manwaring, Liz Anelli, Mary Rodgers, Louise Metcalfe and Barbara Potter will be showing and selling their most recent works.

The Tom Osborne Robinson Art Deco Poster Collection

Curated by Robert Kendall, Chair of the Friends of 78 Derngate and supported by The Friends, this free to enter exhibition of Tom Osborne Robinson's poster art runs from Saturday 9th October to Sunday 19th December 2010.

 

 

Epstein, Gill and Gaudier-Brzeska

Modern Sculpture 1900-1915: Epstein, Gill and Gaudier-Brzeska is the subject of The Friends Autumn Lecture to be given by Dr Evelyn Silber, chair of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society.

Made to Give

Made To Give, the Christmas selling show in The Gallery Upstairs, will feature a selection of handmade items from the Northants Guild of Designer Craftsmen.

With work from popular local jeweller Helen West, potters James Bassett and John Matheison and work by many other members of the Guild including textiles from Pasqualina Iarrobino (see above), Made to Give will be a treasure trove of unique gifts.

Opens Saturday 16th October and runs until Sunday 19th December 2010.

This summer the streets of Northampton are home to a pride of beautifully decorated lion sculptures. One of which has been inspired by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

 On display until September 5th, the Pride of Northampton has brought 40 lions roaring into town. The Pride has been developed by Northampton Borough Council in partnership with the arts and education company Wild in Art and is being supported by local businesses and schools.

Opening on Saturday 24th July 2010 this new gallery show will feature the work of an exciting young painter.

 

Alongside his stunning collection of paintings featuring the buildings and beauty of Northampton, Sam will be unveiling his new portrait of one of Northampton's famous sons, Matt Smith.
