Network Arts, the Northamptonshire-based art group, presented their new gallery show.

Network of Light featured original works in oil, watercolour and mixed media from both amateur and professional local artists.

Expert patchworker Helen Spence repeated her popular demonstration, Six Tricks withTriangles, in September.

Part of the Cream Tea and Craft programme initiated earlier in the year, Helen demonstrated a series of ideas and tips to suit those who have never tried patchwork and to those who are more experienced.

The dates were: Wednesday 7th September and Thursday 22nd September both started at 2pm promptly followed by the cream tea at 3pm.

78 Derngate showcased the work of the winner and other shortlisted candidates of the 2011 Innovative Design Awards.

Ronald Long has painted in oils throughout his life. Having gained a first in fine art in the 50s, Ronald continued to paint in London and Paris then worked for many years in art education.

A series of craft demonstrations followed by a cream tea.

'Six Tricks with Triangles' with Helen Spence ran on two dates, Wednesday 11th May and Tuesday 31st May 2011.

Helen gave some hints and tips to inspire both the seasoned patch-worker and the beginner with some ideas to do at home.

The patchwork demonstration ran between 2pm and 3pm followed by a Dining Room cream tea.

This charming gallery show featured the work of over 100 artists. Originated by Leicester Print Workshop, Small Print: Big Impression presents the vibrancy and variety of printmaking.

Easter 2011.

The Bassett-Lowke Society mounted a large working model display of original Bassett-Lowke locomotives at 78 Derngate.

 A great opportunity to meet the Bassett-Lowke Society team of experts within 78 Derngate: The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House & Galleries in Northampton, the home of Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke, the creator of the Bassett-Lowke collection of perfect scale model boats, trains and more.

An exhibition of original oil paintings from the ArkGroup, a group of local Northamptonshire artists.

Including the work of Mark Rowthorn, Dave Hill, Jean Hill, Carol Hall, Tom Hall and Amber Hill, the ArkGroup gallery exhibition ran from Tuesday 1st February to Wednesday 30th March 2011. Free entry.

 The acknowledged master of tin plate, Andy Hazell creates entertaining and exuberant artworks from this unassuming material.

Cartoon-like creations of cities, animals and characters came alive with wacky personalities, infused with Andy's unique view of the world.

Made To Give, the Christmas selling show in The Gallery Upstairs, featured a selection of handmade items from the Northants Guild of Designer Craftsmen.

With work from popular local jeweller Helen West, potters James Bassett and John Matheison and work by many other members of the Guild including textiles from Pasqualina Iarrobino (see above), Made to Give was a treasure trove of unique gifts.

Modern Sculpture 1900-1915: Epstein, Gill and Gaudier-Brzeska was the subject of The Friends Autumn Lecture given by Dr Evelyn Silber, chair of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society.

Featuring the work of Eric Gill, Jacob Epstein and Gaudier-Brzeska (whose work featured in the recent Royal Academy gallery show, Wild Thing), the Friends Autumn Lecture 2010 was given on Wednesday 13th October at 7.30pm at 78 Derngate.

Featuring a selection of Art Deco posters from the University of Northampton's collection.

Curated by Robert Kendall, Chair of the Friends of 78 Derngate and supported by The Friends, this free to enter exhibition of Tom Osborne Robinson's poster ran from Saturday 9th October to Sunday 19th December 2010.

The 78 Showcase featured the work of seven members of Open Studios Northamptonshire.

This hand-picked selection of some of the finest artists in the county was free to enter.

Chris Prout, Sheila Manwaring, Liz Anelli, Mary Rodgers, Louise Metcalfe and Barbara Potter showed their most recent paintings and prints while Mark Puryer made a dazzlingly modern and stylish new bench on display in the garden.

The Northamptonshire Botanical Artists Society presented A Brush with Botanica, an exhibition of original botanical paintings July 24th to August 30th 2010.

A stunning collection of work from some of the best ceramic artists.

Contemporary Ceramics in The Gallery Upstairs, featured a range of work from fine porcelain to rough-hewn earthenware, from functional pots to large sculptural pieces: all sorts of work to admire, to buy and to treasure.

The 2009 Friends of 78 Derngate Autumn Lecture was given by Joe Holyoak, architect, urban designer and lecturer in architecture at the Birmingham School of Architecture.

Linda Miller’s charming wall-mounted embroidery pictures are rich and colourful, naive and humorous featuring happy smiling couples, families and pets – how could you not love them.

All items were available to purchase.

A scrumptious collection of goodies to inspire and tempt including contemporary glassware from Stuart Akroyd, handmade ceramics by Rachel Wood and Rachel Dormor, jewellery by Alison Macleod and Karen McMillan and stunning designer neckware and bags from Tammy Child.

Called Happy Chance, the Network Arts Autumn Exhibiton, featured work from amateur and professional painters from Northamptonshire.
