Six Tricks with Triangles

Expert patchworker Helen Spence repeated her popular demonstration, Six Tricks withTriangles, in September.
Part of the Cream Tea and Craft programme initiated earlier in the year, Helen demonstrated a series of ideas and tips to suit those who have never tried patchwork and to those who are more experienced.
The dates were: Wednesday 7th September and Thursday 22nd September both started at 2pm promptly followed by the cream tea at 3pm.

Made To Give, the Christmas selling show in The Gallery Upstairs, featured a selection of handmade items from the Northants Guild of Designer Craftsmen.

With work from popular local jeweller Helen West, potters James Bassett and John Matheison and work by many other members of the Guild including textiles from Pasqualina Iarrobino (see above), Made to Give was a treasure trove of unique gifts.
Saturday 16th October until Sunday 19th December 2010.

Modern Sculpture 1900-1915: Epstein, Gill and Gaudier-Brzeska was the subject of The Friends Autumn Lecture given by Dr Evelyn Silber, chair of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society.
Featuring the work of Eric Gill, Jacob Epstein and Gaudier-Brzeska (whose work featured in the recent Royal Academy gallery show, Wild Thing), the Friends Autumn Lecture 2010 was given on Wednesday 13th October at 7.30pm at 78 Derngate.

This hand-picked selection of some of the finest artists in the county was free to enter.
Chris Prout, Sheila Manwaring, Liz Anelli, Mary Rodgers, Louise Metcalfe and Barbara Potter showed their most recent paintings and prints while Mark Puryer made a dazzlingly modern and stylish new bench on display in the garden.
